We researched two currently active, distinct products for this first batch: Promptchan AI and SoulGen. Both are real, operating companies with functioning products, current updates, and public review presence — we verified that directly before including either.

Promptchan AI vs SoulGen, in short

Promptchan is the stronger overall pick in our research: a larger and more positive independent review base, roughly 4 out of 5 stars across around 147 Trustpilot reviews, a more explicit published content-moderation policy, and a broader style range. Its weak point is structural — a subscription tier and a separate “Gems” currency that don’t fully overlap, meaning the advertised monthly price understates what an active user actually spends. More than one independent review has specifically called this out as a “gems trap.”

SoulGen has strong output in its anime and stylized-character lane specifically, and has expanded meaningfully into short-form AI video generation since its original image-generator positioning. Its standout risk is contractual rather than technical: per its own terms of service, generating even a single image forfeits refund eligibility entirely, and disputing a charge afterward can result in a permanent account block, a materially harder line than most competitors in this space, including Promptchan.

What neither product discloses

Both platforms’ privacy policies are silent on whether user-submitted prompts or generated images are used to train the underlying AI models — not a denial, just an absence. Given that this category deals with visual content some users may consider sensitive by nature, that gap is worth being aware of regardless of which platform you choose, and we’d treat it as an open question to ask support directly rather than an assumption to make either way.
